Overview
What is Elyra?
Elyra is a lending and borrowing app built for the HYPE economy. You can lend your assets to earn interest, or borrow against assets you already hold without having to sell them.
Elyra runs on Elysium, the network built by Kinetiq where HYPE is the gas token. Elyra is currently live on Elysium Testnet: all tokens are test tokens with no real value, so you can try every feature without risking real money.

Getting started
- 1Connect your walletTap Connect wallet in the app and choose MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet, or any WalletConnect wallet.
- 2Switch to Elysium TestnetIf your wallet is on another network, Elyra will offer to add and switch to Elysium Testnet for you in one click.
- 3Get test tokensOpen the Faucet page to receive free test tokens. You also need a little testnet HYPE to pay for gas; the Faucet page links to where you can get it.
- 4Choose a marketOpen Markets, pick a market, and supply, add collateral, or borrow. Every action shows a clear summary before you confirm.
Supply
How lending works
When you supply an asset to a market, it becomes available for others to borrow. Borrowers pay interest, and that interest flows to suppliers. Your balance grows automatically every block. There is nothing to claim.
- You earn the market's supply rate, shown as APY on every market page.
- The more of a market that is borrowed, the higher the rate suppliers earn.
- You can withdraw whenever there is enough unborrowed liquidity in the market.
- Supplying also earns Elyra points every hour.
Borrow
How borrowing works
To borrow, you first add collateral, an asset you lock in the market. You can then borrow a portion of its value. A few terms are worth knowing:
- Loan-to-value (LTV): how much you have borrowed compared to the value of your collateral.
- Max borrow: the most the app lets you borrow, as a share of your collateral value. It sits safely below the liquidation threshold.
- Liquidation threshold: the LTV at which your position can be liquidated.
- Health factor: your distance from liquidation. Above 1 is safe; at or below 1 your position can be liquidated. Higher is safer.
- Liquidation: if your health factor drops to 1 or below, another user can repay part of your debt and receive some of your collateral plus a bonus in return.
- Collateral
- 100 WHYPE at $79 = $7,900
- Max borrow (72%)
- $5,688
- Liquidation threshold (77%)
- $6,083
- You borrow
- 4,000 USDC
- Health factor
- 6,083 ÷ 4,000 ≈ 1.52
- Liquidation if WHYPE falls to
- ≈ $51.95
Prices are illustrative. Your live health factor and liquidation price are always shown before you confirm.
To stay safe, keep your health factor comfortably above 1 by repaying debt or adding collateral when prices move.
Design
Isolated markets, simply explained
Every Elyra market pairs exactly one collateral asset with one borrow asset, for example “Collateral: WHYPE · Borrow: USDC”. Each market has its own limits, rates, and price feed.
Because markets are separate, what happens in one cannot affect another. If a riskier asset has a bad day, only the market that uses it is affected, and your deposits elsewhere stay untouched.
| Collateral | Borrow | Tier | Max borrow | Liquidation threshold | Liquidation bonus | Reserve factor |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| WHYPE | USDC | Core | 72% | 77% | 7.4% | 10% |
| USDC | WHYPE | Core | 72% | 77% | 7.4% | 10% |
| USDC | ELYRA | Ecosystem | 54.5% | 62.5% | 12.7% | 20% |
| WHYPE | ELYRA | Ecosystem | 54.5% | 62.5% | 12.7% | 20% |
| ELYRA | USDC | Frontier | 28.5% | 38.5% | 15% | 20% |
| ELYRA | WHYPE | Frontier | 28.5% | 38.5% | 15% | 20% |
Core markets use established assets and allow higher borrowing. Ecosystem and Frontier markets involve the newer ELYRA token and use more conservative limits.
Rates
Interest rates and utilization
Utilization is the share of a market’s supplied assets that is currently borrowed. Rates follow utilization: when borrowing demand is high, rates rise to reward suppliers and encourage repayment; when demand is low, rates fall to attract borrowers.
- Adaptive rate (Core and Ecosystem markets): targets 90% utilization. The rate at target starts at 4% for USDC borrows, 3% for WHYPE, and 8% for ELYRA. It is a quarter of that when the market is empty and four times that when fully used, and it gradually adjusts if utilization stays away from the target.
- Kink rate (Frontier markets): starts at 2% and rises gently to about 10% at 70% utilization, then climbs steeply above that to keep liquidity available.
- Suppliers earn the borrow interest minus the reserve factor (see Fees & revenue), shared in proportion to their deposit.
Economics
Fees & revenue
Elyra has no deposit, withdrawal, or borrowing fees. The protocol earns only a share of the interest borrowers pay, called the reserve factor:
- Core markets: 10% of borrower interest goes to the protocol; 90% goes to suppliers.
- Ecosystem and Frontier markets: 20% goes to the protocol; 80% goes to suppliers.
- The reserve factor can never exceed 25%, a limit built into Elyra itself.
- Protocol fees are credited to the Elyra treasury address as a supply position in the same market.
- Borrowers pay in a Core market
- 1,000 USDC interest
- Protocol (10%)
- 100 USDC
- Suppliers (90%)
- 900 USDC
Liquidations: when a position is liquidated, the liquidator receives collateral worth the debt they repay plus a liquidation bonus, which is the penalty paid by the liquidated borrower. The bonus is about 7.4% in Core markets, 12.7% in Ecosystem markets, and 15% (the maximum) in Frontier markets. The entire bonus goes to the liquidator; Elyra takes no cut of liquidations.
- Liquidator repays
- $1,000 of debt
- Liquidator receives
- ≈ $1,074 of collateral
- Borrower's penalty
- ≈ $74
- Protocol share
- $0
Why Elyra
Benefits and advantages
- Earn yield on idle USDC, HYPE, and ELYRA.
- Borrow without selling and keep your exposure to the assets you believe in.
- Isolated risk: each market stands alone, so you choose exactly the risk you take.
- Transparent: every balance, rate, and transaction is on chain and verifiable.
- Native HYPE support: use HYPE straight from your wallet, with no manual wrapping.
- Careful security posture: Elyra is upgradeable so it can improve, but every change is public and only takes effect after a waiting period. The code is extensively tested, and an independent audit is in progress ahead of mainnet. It has not been audited yet.
Rewards
Points program
You earn points for every hour a position stays open, based on its dollar value:
- Formula
- Value × hours × asset × side
- HYPE / WHYPE
- 2×
- ELYRA
- 1.5×
- USDC
- 1×
- Borrowing
- 2×
- Supply and collateral
- 1×
- First supply / first borrow
- +25 points each
- Daily streak
- +5 points a day, up to 7 days
Positions under $1 or held for less than an hour do not earn points. Points have no guaranteed value.
Example: borrowing $1,000 of HYPE for 24 hours earns 1,000 × 24 × 2 × 2 = 96,000 points. Track yours on the Points page.
Read carefully
Risks
- Liquidation: if your collateral loses value or your debt grows, your position can be partly liquidated and you lose the liquidation bonus.
- Price volatility: crypto prices can move quickly. Newer assets like ELYRA can be especially volatile.
- Liquidity: if most of a market is borrowed, withdrawals may have to wait until borrowers repay or new suppliers arrive.
- Smart contract risk: despite extensive testing, software can contain bugs. Elyra has not completed an external audit yet.
- Price feed risk: markets rely on price feeds. Safety limits pause new borrowing when a price is out of date.
- Testnet: Elyra is on testnet. Tokens have no real value, and balances or points may be reset.
Nothing in these docs is financial advice.
Assets
Supported assets
- HYPE: the gas token of Elysium. Use it directly in WHYPE markets; Elyra wraps it for you and always leaves a little in your wallet for gas.
- WHYPE: wrapped HYPE. Used as collateral or lent out to earn interest.
- USDC: a dollar stablecoin. Lend it to earn interest, or borrow it against WHYPE or ELYRA.
- ELYRA: the Elyra token, available in Ecosystem and Frontier markets with more conservative limits.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Are the tokens real?
No. Elyra is on testnet and all tokens are free test tokens with no real value.
Do I need to claim my interest?
No. Your supplied balance grows automatically.
Why can't I borrow?
You need to add collateral to the market first. The borrow screen shows how much you can borrow and guides you through it.
Why is my withdrawal limited?
If most of a market is borrowed, only the unborrowed part can be withdrawn right away. Higher rates encourage repayment.
How do I avoid liquidation?
Keep your health factor well above 1. Repay part of your debt or add collateral when prices move against you.
Will points carry over to mainnet?
Points track your testnet activity. Any future use of points will be announced separately; nothing is guaranteed.
My transaction failed. What should I do?
Make sure you are on Elysium Testnet and have some HYPE for gas, then try again. The app explains most errors in plain language.
